The Tea Room

Delicious homemade cakes, a large selection of fine loose-leaf teas, excellent coffee and a menu of hearty good food — The Tea Room welcomes everyone, and their dogs.

It holds an enviable position set back on the centre of King Street, opposite the Gaskell Tower, with a pretty courtyard for alfresco dining. The business was born in 2018 when Harriet Henry and her mum Sue took it on, and it has gone from strength to strength since.

Expect around 18 home-baked cakes (including dairy- and gluten-free options), a full menu, afternoon teas, a dedicated dog menu, and monthly live music and quiz nights. Independent, quirky and proud of its friendly service.
