The Parade dates back to 1864 and attracts thousands of visitors to Knutsford every year to watch the parade travel along the streets of Knutsford to the Heath, where there is a crowning ceremony for the May Day Queen. This year sees Jessica Pottle chosen as Knutsford's Royal May Day Queen 2011, who beat 17 others to be selected. Jessica will be crowned Knutsford's 147th May Day Queen and will join the parade at the Sessions House on Toft Road.
On the Heath will be the May Pole and a fair, so plenty to enjoy for all the family.
There was doubt recently as to whether the parade could afford to continue this year due to lack of funding, but thankfully the event received support from the local community and was able to continue.
The May Day Parade celebrates it's 150th anniversary in 2014.
